The first aspect of search optimization is to think of a goal.  For example, what kind of key words need to be used to drive more people to your site is one goal.  Another is you want your site to get someone to make a purchase online.  Every page of your website might also contain different goals, and these need to be kept in mind.

The next process is to come up with the keywords that are going to point the customer in the right direction.  A list of phrases, that concur with the text inside the website are usually the ones used.  Key word research is important in the search engine optimization procedure.

Generally for most companies a complete keyword research is going to run about $350.  This list finds the keywords of optimum correlation to the phrases in the website without excessive over usage.  After analyzing hundreds of possible phrases the result will be in a list of 20 to 50 phrases.  The business itself will have to come up with what they consider relevant phrases from the list of ones in order of importance to their business.

A “short list” must be attained which is 2 or 3 phrases within each page of the site.  Generally the site should focus on 2 or 3 phrases which encompass the general theme of the site.  Inner pages should also configure to 2 or 3 more specific phrases.  If you look at the pages in the web site you should be able to find at least 2 or 3 phrases that correleate with one another.
